Saint Martins University Volleyball Prospects Camp
Saint Martins VB Prospects Camp
Ever wonder what it
would be like to be part of a DII Volleyball program?
Thanks to the Saint
Martins University volleyball prospects camp, that took place on the
30th of December, 17 girls from the local Club and High
School programs got to be part of the Saints DII program for the day.
Head coach Jon Killingbeck
along with
his assistants
Lauren Herseth and
Joe Holland
were on
hand to run the girls through a typical 2 ½ hour practice session in
the beautiful SMU Marcus Pavilion. All
off the girls started off with some nervous energy but it quickly
subsided as the session got goin. They started off with some warm ups,
some individual position coaching, moved on to some Queen of the
court and finally some full on scrimmage matches. There was plenty
of top notch coaching for each player through out and they all walked
away with some tips to improve their game. Somewhere
around the middle of the session (as the players became comfortable
with the coaches, learned names and playing traits) it
became hard to tell the difference between this group of players and
what the real SMU DII team might look like. The pavilion
was absolutely gorgeous for the players and the one thing I noticed
right away that is almost unheard of as a parent of a club player is
the
facility
had heat. For
$25 bucks and the best bargin in volleyball, the players got to experience being a
Saint for the day, received exceptional coaching and played in a beautiful
facility. Who knows, if you got what it takes you may even catch the
eye of one of the coaches! This is "One Not To Miss" for 9th -12th grade players who aspire to go on and play at the collegiate level.
